Donations / Volunteering

Peter Ashley Limited’s nominated charity is St Ann’s Hospice, which has three locations across Greater Manchester; Heald Green, Little Hulton and the Neil Cliffe Centre. The hospice provides excellent care and support to people living with or affected by life limiting illnesses. The hospice was founded in 1971 and is one of the oldest and largest adult hospices outside of London.

The hospice aims to meet the unique needs of those with a life-limiting illness, to help maintain their dignity. They provide specialist palliative care for people with cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses. The hospice also provides support for relatives, carers and friends.

Our Contracts Manager, Myles Lomas and Supervisor, Jesse Witter took part in a gardening volunteering day in June at St Ann’s Hospice, Little Hulton in partnership with our customer CBRE. Our volunteers all received certificates from St Ann’s Hospice, Little Hulton.

Our Supervisor, Jesse has continued to volunteer his grounds maintenance services on a weekly basis mowing the grass within the hospice grounds. Jesse and co worker Ged also volunteered their jet washing services one weekend in preparation for the hospice’s Summer fair to ensure the hospice grounds presented at its very best for visitors on the day of the event.

Peter Ashley Ltd donated Summer bedding / plants to the hospice in July. Jesse, Claire (Accounts Manager) and her daughter Isabelle volunteered to plant the bedding in pots around the hospice gardens. All received certification from St Ann’s Hospice and Isabelle received a mascot bear. Isabelle’s community help will go towards earning a Brownie badge.

Peter Ashley Ltd have pledged to donate and refresh the bedding / plants in the Autumn time. The hospice have greatly appreciated all of our donations and volunteer days and we will continue to offer our weekly grounds maintenance services to them.

North West in Bloom

We take part in competitions involving the permanently based teams working on site. Our grounds maintenance team (supervisor and four operatives) based at a north west site regularly present the site for the annual North West in Bloom competition and have received the Gold Award on a number of occasions in the category of Best Large Commercial, Retail & Industrial Park, most recently in 2021. A Certificate of Recognition was awarded in 2020.

Growing Sunflowers at Home Project - Schools

We have a number of customers within the education sector (schools) and during the pandemic we provided an environmental project (Growing Sunflowers at Home) to assist them with their home-schooling projects.

Education Project – Relocating Wild Poppies

The expansion of our Wilmslow Site identified wild poppies, which have since been relocated and donated to our local schools as an education project to benefit the surrounding community and to support wildlife habitats. During the development of this project we will aim to recycle and reuse materials and seek to conserve scarce and non-renewable resources, such as energy in all operations.
